Dry-Type Cast Resin Rectifier Transformer

The Dry-Type Cast Resin Rectifier Transformer is designed for industrial applications where AC power is supplied to diode or thyristor rectifier systems for AC-to-DC power conversion.

Unlike conventional distribution transformers, a rectifier transformer is designed according to the electrical characteristics of nonlinear rectifier loads. Multiple secondary windings and customized phase-shifting arrangements can be developed to support 6-pulse, 12-pulse or 24-pulse rectification systems.

Using cast resin insulation technology, the transformer provides an oil-free and flame-retardant solution for indoor industrial environments and applications with strict fire-safety requirements.

The transformer can be customized according to the rectifier system, including voltage, capacity, impedance, winding configuration, cooling method and enclosure protection.

Basic Info.

Our dry type cast resin rectifier transformers use vacuum epoxy resin casting technology for insulation and are designed for medium-voltage industrial power systems.

The winding design can be optimized according to the characteristics of rectifier loads, including harmonic currents, phase-shifting requirements, load duty cycle and specific operating conditions.

Multiple secondary windings with customized phase-shifting arrangements can be designed to work with 6-pulse, 12-pulse or 24-pulse rectifier systems, depending on the rectifier bridge configuration.

The oil-free construction eliminates the need for insulating oil and reduces risks associated with oil leakage and oil-related fire hazards. Temperature monitoring and forced-air cooling can be provided according to the transformer rating and operating conditions.

Different enclosure and protection solutions can be provided for indoor, humid, dusty or corrosive environments. Anti-corrosion treatment is also available for demanding industrial applications.

The transformer can be designed according to applicable requirements of IEC 60076-11, IEEE C57.12.01 and relevant Chinese standards, depending on the project specification.

Rectifier Transformer Configurations
  • 6-Pulse Rectifier Transformer

The 6-pulse configuration is widely used for conventional industrial AC-to-DC power conversion. The transformer winding configuration is designed according to the requirements of the associated rectifier bridge.

  • 12-Pulse Rectifier Transformer

A 12-pulse rectifier transformer can use phase-shifted secondary windings to supply two rectifier bridges. This configuration can help reduce characteristic harmonics compared with a basic 6-pulse system.

  • 24-Pulse Rectifier Transformer

For applications requiring further harmonic reduction, a 24-pulse configuration can be developed using multiple secondary windings and appropriate phase-shifting arrangements.

FAQ

Q1: What is the difference between a rectifier transformer and an ordinary dry-type transformer?

A rectifier transformer is specifically designed to supply rectifier systems and nonlinear DC loads. Its winding configuration, impedance and phase-shifting arrangement can be customized according to the rectifier bridge.

An ordinary distribution transformer is primarily designed for conventional AC power distribution and may not be suitable for dedicated rectifier applications.

Q2: What pulse-number configurations are available?

6-pulse, 12-pulse and 24-pulse configurations can be developed according to the customer's rectifier system. The final winding arrangement and phase displacement should be determined together with the rectifier bridge design.

Q3: Can this transformer be used for hydrogen production projects?

Yes. A dry type cast resin rectifier transformer can be designed for rectifier systems used in water electrolysis and hydrogen production projects.

The voltage, capacity, impedance, cooling and enclosure protection can be customized according to the electrolyzer power supply system.

Q4: Can the transformer be customized for a specific rectifier system?

Yes. The transformer can be customized according to the rectifier topology, pulse number, primary and secondary voltage, phase-shifting requirements, impedance, load characteristics, cooling method and installation environment.
